Swegways and the Law
Swegways are classed as self balancing scooters which contain a motor. They are lawfully therefore classed as motor vehicles, however they aren't available to tax through the DVLA due to being unclassified as of yet. This means that technically, they aren't allowed on the public roads.
They are not allowed on public roads or pedestrian footpaths, which is a very sensible decision considering they can reach speeds of up to 10mph!
It is recommended you use your Swegway on private land such as private fields, parks, recreational areas or in the home.
Please refrain from using your Swegway on roads and highways, pedestrianised areas such as footpaths or public rights of way.
